If you’re trying to loose weight ready for the summer, here’s our eat-right, summer-body tips for 2018.
1) The 80/20 rule
If you’re goal is to loose weight or bulk up for the summer, you must remember it’s 80% diet and 20% exercise.
Yes, you can loose weight with diet alone, but in order to maintain your weight loss and sustain muscle growth exercise is also important (major key).
2) Protein packed meals
Protein is very important to any diet, your body requires protein to aid weight loss and encourage the build and repair of muscle tissue. As well as this, protein helps breakdown your food and convert it to energy your body needs to function.
Carbohydrates (carbs) are the body’s main source of energy and is used before burning proteins and fats. There are many diets that are low-carb and no-carbs that help speed up weight loss (e.g. keto dieting). Low carb diets can quickly aid weight loss, but should be done very carefully and methodically as removing carbs from your diet means you should replace it other sources of energy such as additional protein, fibre, or healthy fats.
4) Fats! Why you need ‘em!
When we talk about fats, we are referring to healthy unsaturated fats such as:
- Dark chocolate
Healthy fats are great for you as they can be easily broken down by the body and actually reduce cholesterol, as well as acting as a natural anti-inflammatory. Not only do healthy fats promote great brain function, they help with the body in supporting a more productive and faster metabolism.
5) Portion size
Portion size is very important, to often people struggle to loose weight or gain weight because they eat too much. Many of us are used to having a plate-full of food at mealtime. But it is recommended your portions should be the same size as the inside of an adult palm or between 200g to 300g sized portions consisting of proteins, carbohydrates and fats dependant on your allotted daily calorie intake.
They say, “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day” which is very true. Yet you’re probably thinking, “I don’t have time to have breakfast!”
With many people becoming evermore busy, breakfast tends to be forgotten. Here are a few quick breakfast items you can have:
- Oats or granola
- Banana based breakfasts
7) What if i’m on a Keto diet?
Many of our customers are on Keto or low carb diets, that’s why we allow you to customise your meals by either removing your carbohydrates and adding extra vegetables, or sweet potato mash as a low/no carb alternative.
8) Things you should avoid when trying to loose weight:
